The English Virginalists

During the English Renaissance, musical invention flourished in abundance. Composers such as William Byrd, John Bull, Giles Farnaby, Ferdinando Richardson and others acted as the leading figures in the musical scene of the time. Their music with its distinctive sound, style and technique offers us a glimpse into the theatre world as well, with these master’s innumerable arrangements of popular song.
